Get Weight Loss Results Fast With This Elliptical Machine Workout

One of the best workouts you can get is using an interval elliptical machine workout. The benefits of interval training is widely known in the fitness industry due to the accelerated weight loss and increased strength it offers. According to most fitness experts and athletes, including pro player player Gabriella Reece, small bursts of sprinting on an elliptical trainer for 30 seconds to 1 minute can help burn fat in less time.

Fitness clubs are responding to the obesity statistics in the US by coming up with new programs and offerings for their patrons. Trainers are recommending higher intensity workouts using a wide assortment of fitness machines, such as ellipticals, treadmills, exercise bikes, stair steppers and more.

Elliptical machines are one of our recommended fitness machines due to the full body workout they offer without impact on the joints and knee. The body moves in a unique motion similar to running, cross-country skiing and stair stepping, but with both the upper and lower body. The upper body pushes back and forth on the handlebars on most ellipticals, although some machines do not offer swiveling handlebars and only work the lower body.

Below is an example of an interval workout using an elliptical machine. Using this workout over a few weeks to a month will program your body to deal with higher intensities than most people get from zoning out during their workouts. While a consistent, single intensity level over the course of 20 or 30 minutes offers a sufficient exertion level for fat loss, your progress will be greatly increased after introducing intervals.

Twenty Minute Interval Elliptical Workout

During the following workout, you'll simply run through several levels of exertion in success. Just repeat the cycle several times until reaching the 20 minute mark. As you gain strength over the weeks and months, you can increase variables such as resistance, incline, and workout duration to keep improving your fitness level.

  • Warm up at low intensity for 3 or minutes
  • Raise your intensity level to medium for 2 minutes
  • Again, raise your intensity to high for 1 minute
  • One last time, raise your intensity to very high for 30 seconds to 1 minute

After cycling through these four sentences, repeat them 2 more times for a 20 minute elliptical machine workout. You can also vary the duration and number of intensity levels to form a workout that suits you best. Just make sure to include low and high intensities throughout the entire workout.
