HIIT – The Key to Afterburn

The two most common and effective methods of losing fat especially belly fat are dieting and exercise. However, many people who do exercise claim that they do not see any benefit from doing so. This can be very demotivating and may result in the individual giving up all together.

The reason underlying this purported failure of exercise to produce weight loss is the fact that most individuals are exercising the wrong way. Most people exercise at a slow or moderate pace and stay that way. They never increase the intensity of the exercise. Here, the fat burning benefit of exercise only occurs while they are exercising. This results in individuals having to devote more time to exercising just to loose belly fat.

Th key to losing fat is to take advantage of the afterburn effect. Afterburn is a condition where the body continues to burn fat, sometimes up to 18 hours after the person has stopped exercising. It is due to afterburn, that people will be successful in losing belly fat.

The key to achieving afterburn is to carry out HIIT or "high intensity interval training". This involves doing exercise at a slow or moderate pace for 20 to 30 seconds then going on to a fast pace for 10 to 15 seconds. By doing this repeatedly, the body goes into an accelerated rate of fat burning that can last for as long as 18 hours. In short, you continue to reap the benefits of exercise even after you have stopped doing it.

Examples of HIIT are stairstepper, interval running and interval walking.

One can definitely achieve satisfactory weight loss and abdominal fat loss of only one had the knowledge and abilities to exercise the right way. By seeing the effects of HIIT one will definitely remain motivated to loose belly fat.
